Installing IPV6 Support on

IPV6 is only available for MSVC as a separate package. This document describes to location of the required packages, as well as some general useful information. Note that VS.net 2003 already contains full IPV6 support.

IMPORTANT: As of 15 Feb 2005, the only way to get IPV6 support with MSVC 6 is to install the Windows Platform SDK. Make sure that MSVC is configured with the include and lib directories for the Platform SDK above the normal Microsoft Visual Studio include and lib directories. See Important Tip #1 in the Windows compile instructions for an example of how to do this.

This program is designed for Windows 2000 English Service Pack 1. Some files may need to be modified for later service packs. More details can be found in the FAQ.

The 'ipv6 install' command installs only the IPv6 drivers. You need to install additional IPv6 includes for VC6.
Alternatively, you can install the Platform SDK which
includes all of the requirements for IPV6 (and other functions as well). The
Microsoft Platform SDK update page can be found
